Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to developing a diverse group of leaders to serve southwestern Pennsylvania. LPInc. is proud of its graduate network of more than 2,000 influential civic leaders working to maximize the potential of our community. These graduates are a rich resource for area nonprofit and public boards and commissions.
Leadership Development Initiative (LDI) is a program of Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. that is designed to cement rising Pittsburgh leaders’ engagement with the community and its neighborhoods. It not only builds leadership skills and enlarges professional networks (all within the context of community awareness) but equally importantly, serves as talent retention tool for the participating companies/organizations. Past LDI classes have been the creators of several pop up events throughout the city of Pittsburgh by way of each class’ Community Impact Project. In addition to meeting a need in the community, these projects provide significant learning experiences for the team members, helping to enhance leadership skills and expose the participants to leaders and issues that matter to Pittsburghers.
PopUp! Pittsburgh is one of the many different components of the LDI program. This project is modeled on the “Pop Up City” concept which seeks to momentarily revitalize a neighborhood that has excess vacant land by developing a temporary, low-cost initiative that has the ability to surprise, provoke, and entertain city residents and visitors in ways that change perceptions about the places where they occur.
