Leadership Pittsburgh, Inc.'s Leadership Development Initative (LDI) XX Class is helping to organize “The Emerald of Mt. Washington 5K Race and Festival” event in Pittsburgh’s Mt. Washington neighborhood, as part of our annual PopUp! Pittsburgh festival. We invite you to join us in touring the scenic Mt. Washington neighborhood, explore local businesses, cultural sites, and the star of the show, the Emerald View Park system, featuring Grandview Park in the newly created Emerald View Park and trail system!
Created in 2005, Emerald View Park is Pittsburgh’s newest regional park system. Overlooking downtown Pittsburgh, it is located in the neighborhoods of Mt. Washington, Duquesne Heights, and Allentown. The Park combines existing parks and greenspaces with what was once heavily mined, denuded and dumped up on land. For Pittsburgh and the more than 1 million people who visit Mt. Washington every year to see the iconic view of downtown Pittsburgh and her three rivers, the 257-acres Park offers a mix of playing fields, playgrounds, lawns, views, and trails.
The Emerald of Mt. Washington Festival takes place at Grandview Park, located at 499 Bailey Avenue (please note that it is NOT located on Grandview Avenue despite the name!) - the start and end of the 5K race is at the intersection of Bailey Ave and Beltzhoover Ave next to the park. Grandview Park is one of many parks in the Emerald View Park system(click here to view a map of the entire network)!
